Troubleshooting Google Meet Video CallsUpdated 2 hours ago

At Haven, we use Google Meet (free) to help you connect through video calls.

Starting a Video Call

  1. Go to your Inbox chat.

  2. Click "Create video meeting".

  3. A Google Meet link will appear in the chat.

  4. Both people should press on the link.

  5. You’ll be taken to Google Meet and can join the call.

Troubleshooting Steps

If the video call isn’t working, try these fixes one by one:

1. Check Your Internet Connection

  • Make sure Wi-Fi or mobile data is turned on.

  • Try moving closer to your router or switching to a stronger connection.

2. Refresh or Restart

  • Refresh the page and click the Meet link again.

  • If that doesn’t work, close the tab and reopen the link.

  • As a last resort, restart your device.

3. Allow Camera & Microphone Access

  • When Google Meet asks, press “Allow” for both camera and microphone.

  • If you already denied access, look for a lock icon in your browser’s address bar and change the permissions to Allow.

4. Update Your Browser or App

  • Google Meet works best on Google Chrome (latest version) or the Google Meet app (on phones).

  • Update your browser/app if it’s out of date.

5. Try a Different Device

  • If the call isn’t working on your phone, try a laptop or tablet (or vice versa).

6. Audio/Video Issues

  • If you can’t hear the other person: check your device volume and Meet’s audio settings.

  • If they can’t hear you: check that your microphone is not muted (look for the mic icon in Meet).

  • If video is frozen: turn your camera off for a minute, then back on.

  • Sometimes the link didn’t copy correctly. Create a new video meeting in the chat and try again.

✅ If none of these steps work, let the Haven team know in your chat—we’ll help you get connected.
